ABOUT THIS EXHIBIT
Jackson Pollock (1912–1956) became a defining figure of Abstract
Expressionism and is closely associated with large-scale gestural
painting and poured-paint techniques. His work changed how artists
and audiences thought about movement, surface and the physical act
of painting. This exhibit gathers Smithsonian records connected to
his art, career, exhibitions and legacy.
